Thank you to the Fortuna Volunteer Fire Department and the Women's Auxillary for inviting Bridgeville into your training events. What you guys do makes a difference and affects communities all throughout Humboldt County. We appreciate your time and training.

Is the giant blasting siren really necassary? That can't be the way the volunteers are called in. It would be far too unreliably a means to get people up and have them to the department. I assume most people use a radio of some sort or scanner to keep in tune with the goings on around the area. So how bout we retire that obnoxious horn. I for one refuse to donate money until that thing is turned off. Thank you for your time. please

FVFD: Pagers are used by our volunteers. However pages can be left at home, accidentally be left turned off, or have technical failures. The siren provides a necessary backup, as well as it alerts nearby traffic and pedestrians to clear the area around the station as fire equipment will be exiting shortly.

If it was your house on fire you would find that siren a welcome signal that our volunteers are on their way.

Very nice website. I was raised and completed high school in Fortuna (1970) moved to Alaska in 1977 and have been a member of the Ketchikan Fire Dept. (Assist.Chief) for 27 years. It is my desire to retire and return to Fortuna someday!
